Parks and public space in Medellín
Explore parks, ecological parks, squares and green areas in GeoMedellín’s downloadable public-space inventory. Inspect names and neighborhoods, compare categories and analyze areas. A separate view lets you study 480 proposed public-space records from the 2014 land-use plan, with seven categories, twelve subcategories and six published levels. The ecopark management layer includes 81 records from 2024 with published actions and associated streams.
The general inventory contains 1,507 records downloaded on September 26, 2026; its metadata describes October 2025 without a single date for every feature. Proposed public space retains December 17, 2014 dates: these are planning proposals, not open parks or completed works. Ecopark management has its own date, September 30, 2024. These layers can overlap: records and areas must not be summed as unique parks or additional available land. Categories such as “No Aplica” are retained without interpreting them as absence of a space. The general inventory and proposals use geometries simplified by up to 0.5 m, with area change below 1%; area attributes are calculated from the original geometries. Current opening, maintenance, accessibility and regulatory status are not confirmed.

- Open the viewer with this theme’s first layer enabled. Search a neighborhood or enter coordinates as latitude, longitude.
- Enable other layers in the theme and zoom in. Detailed cadastral layers require a close scale to keep queries bounded.
- Select a feature on the map or in the Results list. Check its attributes, retrieval time and any partial-result notice.
- Choose a field and exact value to filter the layer. Export includes only received results, with attribution and dates; it does not download the whole municipality.
Sources, dates and limits
Each source’s verification date appears in the table. Retrieval time is not the data update date. Small city-wide layers use the full extent; larger layers depend on the visible area. Reference publications retain their original retrieval date. Each response contains up to 500 features and 2 MB. Reference publications load matching pages, up to 5,000 features and 8 MB per query. External services may return partial samples, identified in the viewer.
