Urban communes in Cali
Locate an area within the 22 urban communes published by IDESC. Select a commune to read its text code 01–22, name and official links; filter by code or name and compare the legend by commune. This administrative query is separate from land-use planning.
Explore these layers ↗Administrative divisions of urban land: these exclude rural districts and do not determine land uses, permits or parcel conditions. IDESC describes layer adjustments based on boundary descriptions and coordinates in the technical supporting document (DTS) of Agreement 0636 of 2026, building on the divisions established by the 1988, 1998 and 2004 agreements. The metadata records a revision on 28 September 2026 and a CC BY-SA 4.0 licence; it does not establish a single measurement date or that all 22 geometries changed. The linked PDF could not be read during verification; its articles were not verified. shape_leng and shape_area retain original values without verified units. Visible-area query limited to 500 records and a 2 MiB response. Filters and statistics describe loaded records; a partial query does not represent the entire city. Retrieval and catalog modification dates are not data dates.

Open Cali map →How to use the map
- Open the prepared query for this theme in the viewer. Locate an area using latitude, longitude coordinates or general place and address search.
- Review enabled layers and zoom to their query scale. Check each layer’s scope: it may query the visible area or the full municipal extent. An empty or unavailable service does not establish that no conditions apply.
- Select a feature on the map or in the Results list. Check its attributes, retrieval time and any partial-result notice.
- Choose a field and exact value to filter the layer. Export includes received results, with attribution and dates. Its coverage depends on the query scope and filters.
Frequently asked questions
What can I query in Cali’s communes?
The 22 urban communes in the administrative division published by IDESC. Rural corregimientos are not included. This administrative layer does not determine POT land uses, parcel boundaries or building permits.
How do I read and filter a commune’s fields?
Open the prepared query, select a commune and read its code, name, agreement and query link. comcodigo codes are text, from 01 to 22: retain the leading zero when filtering an exact value such as 01. shape_leng and shape_area retain source values with unverified units. Null values are not converted to zero.
How current is the commune mapping?
IDESC describes boundary adjustments based on the technical supporting document (DTS) of Agreement 0636 of 2026, building on the 1988, 1998 and 2004 agreements. The resource declares publication on 2025-02-06 and revision on 2026-09-28. It declares no dataset-wide measurement date and does not establish that all 22 geometries changed. GeoSAT verification: 2026-10-14; this is not a capture or legal-validity date. The linked PDF could not be read during verification; its articles were not verified.
What is the source, and can I reuse these data?
The source is the IDESC WFS service, Cali Mayor’s Office. The layer record links to GetCapabilities, the official metadata and the administrative query. The metadata declares CC BY-SA 4.0: credit the Departamento Administrativo de Planeación — Alcaldía de Santiago de Cali and indicate changes. If you adapt the data, distribute the adaptation under ShareAlike 4.0. GeoSAT retains geometries and six attributes, with service CRS84 reprojection.
Does the viewport show all 22 communes, and how do I share the query?
The viewport queries communes intersecting the visible area, up to 500 records and 2 MiB per layer; it is not the complete urban inventory. Review partial-result or failure notices, which do not establish an absence of communes. Share copies a link that queries the source again; Export these results downloads only received results.
Local search and identifiers
Locate an area by coordinates or general address and place search; a match does not identify or certify a parcel. Explore its layers and published attributes. Official NPN searches and land-use opinions are provided by the municipal portal. The independent ANLA project query shows areas and attributes published by the Autoridad Nacional de Licencias Ambientales (ANLA), retaining its attribution. The prepared example opens record objectid 1747 for file LAM5950; 29 November 2018 is the published act date, not a mapping update. This is not land-use zoning and establishes neither current legal validity of permits, operating status nor a complete municipal inventory. One file may have several areas and acts: records are not unique projects, and their areas must not be summed as affected municipal land. The source declares neither a mapping scale nor a dataset-wide date, and the item declares no specific reuse licence. Queries are limited to 500 records and 2 MiB; results depend on the queried area and may be partial. Consult the official ANLA links and confirm the file and its acts.
Cali uses the 30-digit National Parcel Number (NPN); municipal services also distinguish the parcel identifier and local parcel number. GeoSAT does not convert these identifiers to Medellín’s CBML or provide cadastral NPN search in Cali. The spatial land query shows geometry records without parcel attributes; it does not identify a unique parcel. Use the official land-use service to consult an NPN.
Query guide for Cali →Sources, dates and limits
Each source’s verification date appears in the table. Retrieval time is not the data update date. Small city-wide layers use the full extent; larger layers depend on the visible area. Reference publications retain their original retrieval date. Each page contains up to 500 features: up to 2 MiB for external services and 4 MiB for local publications. Reference publications load matching pages, up to 5,000 features and 8 MiB per query. External services may return partial samples, identified in the viewer.
