Frequently asked questions

What poverty value does DANE publish for Barrancominas?

86.5% IPM incidence published by DANE for Barrancominas · 2018 Census, former territory 94343 without Mapiripana; not current poverty. This is municipal multidimensional poverty incidence from census data, not a count of people or households. The service publishes the percentage without its denominator; GeoSAT retains the value without recalculating it.

How do I inspect the percentage in the viewer?

Open this query: it loads one whole-municipality layer and the Published IPM incidence · 2018 Census (%) field. Select the municipality on the map or under Results to read the published incidence, census year 2018, name and code. Review the source and methodology before exporting. Panning or zooming does not allocate the percentage to neighborhoods or parcels.

Is this current or comparable with ECV series?

No. It is an approximation from the 2018 Census, with five dimensions and 15 deprivation indicators defined at household level; census omission must be considered. The technical publication is dated 31 January 2020. Retrieval on 2026-10-10 does not update the indicator. It is not an annual Quality of Life Survey series or Medellín’s local series; do not sum or average municipalities to produce another territorial level.

What geometry and reuse terms apply?

DANE data, IGAC geometry and GeoSAT adaptation under CC BY 4.0 with attribution. Downloads retain provenance, geometry query parameters, source, dates and license. The current reference boundary does not reconstruct 2018 boundaries; it cannot measure neighborhood poverty, establish parcel conditions or determine benefit eligibility. Barrancominas was created in 2019 by combining the former territories of Barrancominas and Mapiripana (Ordinance 248, as documented by DANE). The retrieved 2018 census sources retain separate codes 94343 and 94663: only the original value for 94343 is shown, without adding Mapiripana or attributing that value to the entire current municipality. The MEN 2011–2024 series likewise retains original 94343 rows; a uniform territorial extent across years has not been verified. The current IGAC boundary is a location reference, not the historical coverage of these statistics.
